Fire Scientist retired from the US Forest Service with over 30 years on wildfires and prescribed burns.

  • Salmon Mine-East Sages FWC co-leader.

  • Conducted 28 Firewise Fire Hazard and Risk Assessments in Nevada County.

  • California Certified Burn Boss.

  • Previously served on North San Juan Fire Protection District, Fire Safe Council of Nevada County, Nevada County Resource Conservation District, and California Fire Safe Council Boards.

Bob Long

Bob Long

Treasurer

Bob Long is a fifth generation Californian and has lived in Grass Valley 28 years. Bob, currently retired, enjoyed 40 years as a healthcare executive and is a retired Lt Col in the army. He has served on the boards of the YMCA, United Way, and the former Lutz
Center. He was elected to the Hartnell College Board of Trustees. Bob was a member of the Coalition of Fire Wise Communities serving as its Chair. He is currently on the Dignity Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Board, serving as the Chair of the Finance Committee and is on the Board of Directors and the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Grass Valley. Of the many things accomplished during 40 years of healthcare,
he is most proud of incorporating and establishing Miners Community Clinic which is
now known as Western Sierra Medical Clinic. Bob is married with three children and 6
grandchildren. He still enjoys backpacking, treks through Spain, and skiing with
grandkids.

Erika Willett Kosina is a communications consultant who has called Nevada County home since 2010. Her expertise lies in working collaboratively with businesses and nonprofit organizations to engage with their communities and communicate effectively with their customers. She served on the boards of Sierra Commons and the Nevada County Coalition of Firewise Communities and is passionate about supporting economic and environmental resilience in our rural community.

Secretary

Retired administrator with 30 years’ experience in project management, operational recovery, technical writing, and procedure/policy trainer. Banner Mountain Firewise steering committee, experienced with the Firewise Fire Hazard Risk Assessment and Action plan process, current Board Member of a local Nevada City non-profit, and a 2024 Firewise Festival planning committee member.
