Red Level – Wildfire Threat Take Action Time
We have a special message on what to do on red flag weather days. Many of the largest, fastest moving, destructive, and deadly wildfires occur when the combination of very dry, hot and windy weather combine.
-
The Camp Fire in Butte County that burned down the town of Paradise and killed 85 people.
-
The Tubbs fire in Sonoma County destroyed over 5600 structures and killed 22 people.
-
Last year's Park Fire, near Chico, burned over 700 structures and killed 1 person.
-
The Palisades and Eaton Fires that burned over 16,000 structures and killed 29 people.
What should you do when there is a red flag warning or weather watch? We call it a Red Level – Wildfire Threat Take Action Time. Be ready to go at a moment’s notice, you don’t have to wait for an evacuation warning because when fires start under this type of weather, they start and move very fast. That should give you a little peace of mind, knowing you are ready to go at a moment's notice!
