UC Cooperative Extension Forest Stewardship Workshop Series: Yuba and Nevada Counties

Location: virtual webinars with one local field trip in Nevada or Yuba county (location TBD)

Description: UC Cooperative Extension's Forest Stewardship workshop is coming to Yuba and Nevada counties! Residents from the Sierra and Sierra Foothills are encouraged to join this workshop to understand and protect your forests by developing a forest management plan. Topics covered include: forest management, silviculture, fuel reduction and forest resource marketing, mapping and inventory skills, and much more. Participants who complete the workshop are eligible for a free site visit with a California Registered Professional Forester!

When Fire Helps: Scaling Prescribed Burning Across the Sierra

In this salon, we will hear about prospects for returning beneficial fire to the land – and what impacts this has for forest health and community protection – from local fire and forestry professionals as well as tribal representatives revitalizing cultural burning practices.
